Purpose: To recognize leadership and excellence in air filtration by selected air filter users, and to promote the National Air Filtration Association and its member companies.
In response to the need for quality assurance, increased education and recognition of professional achievement within the industry, NAFA developed the NAFA Certified Air Filter Specialist (CAFS) program—the first education and certification program designed specifically for air filtration professionals.
The NAFA Certified Technician (NCT) Program was first introduced to NAFA members in January 1999 as an effort to add more credibility and professionalism to the air filtration industry. Since its introduction, nearly 300 air filter service technicians have taken the 100 question, open-book exam based on the NAFA Installation, Operation, and Maintenance of Air Filtration Systems manual.
Bag in / Bag out (BIBO). Biosafety laboratories are being planned and built across the United States and internationally. Most all of these facilities have bag-in/bag-out HEPA filtered biohazard filtration systems that require changing on a regular basis
These products have been tested by a NAFA approved air filter testing laboratory using ASHRAE Standard 52.2, 1999, to manufacturer’s listed values. NAFA certifies that the product meets the manufacturer’s values.
Each year NAFA awards two (2) $1,000 scholarships that honor students who demonstrate outstanding personal and academic characteristics.
In 2007, NAFA initiated the NAFA Hall of Fame- recognition for individuals who have left or retired from the air filter industry but did much to promote NAFA and air filtration during their career. The NAFA Board of Directors has approved two new award categories for 2008: Distinguised Service Award and Lifetime Achievement Award.
