NAFA members have authored many studies and papers on air filtration and the application of technologies to improve living and work environments.

Air Media Magazine

Air Media magazine is published three times per year by the National Air Filtration Association. Air Media provides a forum for the free exchange of opinions and information, and recognizing the advancements in our industry.

Best Practice Guidelines

NAFA publishes a series of air filtration best practice guidelines based on industry codes, but that go further to recommend and incorporate the “highest level of air filtration standards” for specific applications.

NAFA Guide to Air Filtration

NAFA Guide to Air Filtration – Your source for information about air filtration – from the basic principles of filtration and the different types of filtration devices to information about testing, specialized applications and the role of filtration in Indoor Air Quality. The NAFA guide also contains information about industrial finishing, cleanrooms, filtration efficiencies for hospitals and health care facilities and updated information about ASHRAE 52.2 – 2012.

NAFA User’s Guide to ISO 16890

This International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 16890 “Understanding ePM and ISO Coarse” User Guide was created by the National Air Filtration Association (NAFA) Foundation, a NAFA nonprofit organization. This guide and the application of the particulate contamination removal standard ISO 16890 “Air filters for general ventilation” are intended to assist end-users and specifiers in their selection of appropriate air filtration products and understanding the ePM values in the 16890 test reporting. This guide also aims to help users understand the similarities and differences between this test and ASHRAE 52.2 and its MERV.

Installation Operation and Maintenance (IOM) of Air Filtration Systems

This manual provides excellent instruction for anyone starting in the air filtration industry. At the same time, it expands the knowledge of those already working in the field and remains an outstanding reference tool for everyone in the business.

Understanding MERV | NAFA User’s Guide to ANSI/ASHRAE 52.2

This ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 52.2 “Understanding MERV” User Guide was created by the National Air Filtration Association (NAFA), an international group of air filter distributors, manufacturers and engineers. This Guide, and the application of a particle-based contaminant removal standard prescribed by ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 52.2-2017 “Method of Testing General Ventilation Air-Cleaning Devices for Removal Efficiency by Particle Size,” are intended to assist end-users and specifiers in their selection of appropriate air filtration products and understanding of the MERV values in the 52.2 test reporting.
